Upcoming MycoBrew workshop!
One of our members had graciously decided to give a beer brewing workshop using mushrooms. Info below!
The date will be May 2nd @9:30 am at my home in High Falls, NY and will take about 6 hrs to complete.
The limit is 10 people so each of you will get about a gallon of beer from the 10 gallon batch we will be making. We’re going to do a partial mash beer using extract and grains.
The cost will be $15 dollars per person, payable when you sign up which will cover the costs of all supplies.
I will cover all grain brewing (mashing the grains), extract brewing, equipment, small batch brewing (which you can do in your own kitchen), and resources, such as where to get ingredients and supplies online.
Because of the season we’re going to use dried mushrooms. If anyone has some to share, that would be great. We will be using Chanterelles this time, but if anyone has dried candy caps, please let me know.
I will provide some chili, snacks, and refreshments. Please bring a small dish to share.
We will have grains left over so we could get some oyster mushroom sawdust spawn and inoculate the left over grains. Anyone is welcome to take the spent grains to take home.

There will be a follow up a few weeks later to bottle our beer.
I’ll send out a form to you stating that you have no gluten allergies, problems consuming mushrooms, or problems drinking alcohol and are at least 21 years of age. It should be a great time!
Please email me (below) to sign up, and I will give you directions.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Sincerely,
Ray Sykes

Sounds great Chef John. Now if I can only find the sottocenere chseee. If my favourite chseee seller at the market can’t help me I may be snookered. My town is NOT a hot bed of gourmands. The local palette is very bland for the most part. Looking forward to hearing more about that BBQ sauce. I hope your store front will ship to Canada.
