Living with Medicinal Mushrooms

I will talk about medicinal mushrooms in the context of the Bedouins who use them, the Druze who have adopted to using medicinally new mushrooms, which came with imported trees that were planted in the area in the past 120 years, but which are now being cut down,  and I will talk about some of the people I have met in the past 2 months, who have incorporated mushroom products into their own medical treatments as well as into their recovery procedures, and about their experiences.

Bio:

Elinoar Shavit specializes in mycological research regarding desert truffles, medicinal mushrooms, edible wild mushrooms, and ethno-mycology. She has published numerous articles on these topics, recently contributing chapters to Desert Truffles: Phylogeny, Physiology, Distribution and Domestication. Elinoar is past president of the New York Mycological Society, a contributing editor at Fungi Magazine on medicinal mushrooms and ethno-mycology, and past chairperson of the medicinal mushrooms committee of the North American Mycological Association.
