Our host says an SUV type vehicle is best to get to this walk since the road we'll be driving on was washed out by Irene. We'll be parking a few hundred yards down this road.

I would avoid Route 42, not sure if that's all fixed yet. I believe the way is now clear from exit 20 (saugerties). But to be 100% certain, exit 21 is a sure thing. It'll just take a little longer.

your mushroom guide
water to drink
a jacket or sweatshirt (weather forecast is for 60"s)
bug spray (with all the rain, mosquitoes have been HORRIBLE)
