Ferncliff Forest Update and Directions

We did a looksee on Sunday and the mushrooms are starting to come alive due to the increased rain we've had. Lots of russulas, slime molds, LBMs, a waxy cap or two, chickens of the woods, oysters and we didn't cover nearly all there is to offer.

Colgate Lake This Sunday!!!!! August 15th

We apologize for the quick changes and scheduling this year. The whacky weather has caught us off guard.
The Colgate Lake Walk in Greene County which was scheduled in July has been rescheduled for this Sunday, August 15th.

Ashokan Walk Update

August 7, 2010

We did a looksee this evening to see what was out there. It's dry as a bone at the Asokan Reservoir. All we found were 4 dry chanterelles. However, we have an alternate site that has fruiting mushrooms.
We're still meeting at the Ashokan reservoir at 8:30 am. At 9 am we'll be heading to another location [...]

Where are the Mushrooms This Year?

“This is the least fruiting season I’ve ever seen in 20 years. Could the drought and high temperatures destroyed the mycelium? And if so what is the impact on future seasons? Any ideas?”
