Kanape Brook, June 12 – We’re Doing a Looksee

Well folks, we're off to do our first walk lead and hosting this week. Funny thing, we can't find a good set of directions to get to the Kanape Brook site.

Vague, yes. Direct, no. We know it's off of Route 42, Peekamoose Road in Ulster County…

Tomorrow afternoon we'll be heading out into the wide green yonder of the Catskills to find that brook! So if you don't see a new post by tomorrow evening, say 9 pm-ish, assume a wild myco got us!

    For Kanape brook trailhead I found these directions:

    Take NYS Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston). Follow NY Rte 28 west for 16 miles to Boiceville.
    Turn left onto Route 28A. After 3.0 miles, turn right onto Watson Hollow Road (CR 42).
    The parking area is 3.8 miles and on the right side. The trail begins across the road and a short distance east of the lot. Cross the wooden bridge and sign in at the register.

    I think it's a bit more than 3 miles down 28A. I'll measure it tomorrow.
